The battlefield you pick decides how you play. This dossier compares focus, simulation depth, and pacing across the catalog so you can match a title to your command style.
Two very different doctrines sit under focused vehicle combat. World of Tanks is structured around history and defined armor classes from the mid-20th century. Its 15-vs-15 battles reward map knowledge and knowing where heavy tanks are weak.
Crossout takes a post-apocalyptic route. Instead of commanding preset historical vehicles, you build the machine. Buggies and hover tanks come together from scrap. The destruction model is satisfying, but the learning curve is nothing like a classic tank sim.
When one vehicle is not enough, Enlisted gives a Second World War view that mixes first-person shooting with squad management. You control one soldier while issuing orders to an AI squad. That creates dense troop concentrations. If you can live with unpredictable AI in close urban fighting, the atmosphere is unusually thick.
For players who want land, air, and sea in one place, War Thunder sits at the top of the catalog. It goes past simple hit points and uses a detailed modular damage model. One shot in the wrong place can cook the ammunition rack. Covering the 20th and 21st centuries, it is the deepest combined-arms option here — and the steepest to learn.
If you want to slow the pace and think further ahead, choose World of Warships. Naval action rewards planning. Steering heavy battleships and calculating artillery arcs across open water favors methodical commanders. Players looking for constant close-range action may be on the wrong front.
